COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH/CRISIS SUPPORTS & RESOURCES

A healthy home environment is one where emotional distress is at a minimum. This document provides important resources to help support you and your loved ones in crisis. (i.e. escalated emotional distress, domestic conflict, concerns of harm to yourself or others).

*if there is an immediate threat of harm to yourself or others, call 911, DO NOT call RHS.


Baltimore County Crisis Response (Hotline and Mobile Crisis Team)

Hotline: 24 hours a day/365 days a year; calls answered and screened by mental health counselors; danger and severity of caller’s situation are assessed; calls may be triaged to urgent care or Mobile Crisis Team for the in-home intervention team. Hotline Number: (410)931-2214

MOBILE CRISIS TEAM can come to you and includes Police officers and licensed clinicians that are paired together in an unmarked police car and wear plain clothes (khaki pants, black polo shirts). The team is available from 10:00 am to 1:00 am, seven days per week, and serves every Baltimore County citizen. The mobile crisis team provides on-site, immediate response to a person in crisis. The team will conduct a mental health assessment; provide crisis resolution, family education, information, and linkage for individuals in need.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-SUICIDE (or 1-800-784-2433).

Maryland Youth Crisis Hotline

This is a confidential and secure place to talk about problems and stresses that may be difficult to talk about anywhere else.

Crisis Text Line Sheppard Pratt: Crisis Walk-In Clinic

Just text HOME to 741741 to immediately receive support and someone to connect with.

You will receive an automated text asking you what your crisis is. Within minutes, a live trained crisis counselor will answer your text. They will help you out of your moment of crisis and work with you to create a plan to continue to feel better.

The Crisis Counselor is a live person trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem solving and suggested referrals. All of the Crisis Text Line's Crisis Counselors are volunteers, donating their time to helping people in crisis using the Crisis Text Line’s secure platform.

Sheppard Pratt: Crisis Walk-In Clinic

The Crisis Walk-In Clinic is specially designed for people who need an immediate psychiatric assessment and a referral to an appropriate level of psychiatric care. Clinic Number (410)938-5302

Additionally, any emergency room can provide immediate support for those in physical or mental health distress.


Warning Signs of Suicide (from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services):

  • Talking about wanting to die or wanting to kill oneself.
  • Saying there is no reason to live, there is no hope.
  • Looking for ways to kill oneself.
  • Having extreme mood swings. May include rage.
  • Feeling trapped or in unbearable pain.
  • Talking about being a burden on other people.
  • Increasing alcohol or drug use.
  • Withdrawing from people.
  • Talking about seeking revenge.
  • Acting recklessly.
  • Giving away possessions.
  • Becoming anxious or agitated.
  • Sleeping too little or too much.
