Early dismissal, Lunch & Item Drop-off

We understand that students may leave devices, projects, lunches, athletic equipment and other items at home when they come to school. Students also may arrive late or return from approved appointments. After the classes begin at 7:25AM, we will have at least one staff member at our main entrance to service our community and ensure we get our students in quickly, while we receive items from families.

If there is a need to drop anything off during the day, we ask that you buzz the front doorbell and allow a staff member to assist you. Generally, this means providing them with the item and the student’s name. The item will either be hand delivered to the student’s class, or they will be able to receive the item (mainly lunches) when they are called down to the main office area. To keep distractions to instruction to a minimum, food will not be given to students during class time.

We also follow similar procedures with adults for early dismissal; however, parents must provide verification of student/family information to have a student released without entering the building. As always, entering the building is an option and parents will be escorted to the office to accommodate their request. Under no circumstances is anyone denied entry to the office, however, it is BCPS policy that classroom visits are to be agreed upon by the teacher and parent prior to it happening.
