You may see junior Dionne Hopkins,
anchoring the five o’clock news on channel 11 sometime in
the future.
"I’ve always wanted to be a news
anchor," she said. "I’m naturally inquisitive,
and I like to give out information."
Hopkins is currently enrolled in the mass
communication magnet program at Randallstown High School.
In the program, she is learning to do what she loves,
broadcast journalism. "It’s just something I’ve
always seen myself doing."
Although Hopkins enjoys journalism, she
admits she doesn’t necessarily like writing stories.
"I know I have to learn to write stories before I can
report them. So, it’s good that the program here at RHS is
teaching me to do both."
Hopkins says that no one influenced her into
choosing to be a news anchor. "I’ve never been one to
say oh I like what she’s doing I want to do that
too." Realizing that journalist do have to move a lot
to find jobs, Hopkins hopes to live in Boston or New York.
