Maurice Wood is always encouraging his friends to do better and get on
track. Wood, senior, takes the remaining time he has at RHS very seriously.
After all, he’s all grown up and about to enter the real world.
For Woods, helping teens and his friends is just something that comes
with the territory. Woods encourages his friends to get out there and find
out what they are good at. "I’m a good influence on them," says Wood. He
knows what he wants for himself and knows anything is possible if you put
your mind to it.
"[I want] to be the next John Legend," says Wood who is in the choir and
absolutely loves to sing. And he is working on his piano skills. Everyday he
practices singing and playing piano.
"John Legend is just like me. He sings; he plays piano, and he is his own
person. John Legend comes alive in his music, and I can’t think of a better
inspiration to help me along with my music," says Wood.
In his off time, Wood likes to play the Yu. Gi. Oh. Card game and is a
Madden fanatic. In fact, he wants to one day design a Madden game and work
in construction; yes, he’s got his hands full.
In the future, Wood hopes to get involved in the community and help teens
make better decisions.
"If only more people cared for one another… [the world would be a better
place for the youth]," he says.
