This year, Eric Nixon is not going to continue  his regular school-year sports routine. Every year of his high-school career, he has run track, and it has always been his favorite sport. This year, Eric decided to step up and run cross-country.

"At first I was undecided, but now I am glad that I decided to run," he says. Nixon has also decided not to play baseball this year, like he did in his sophomore year, but to continue to run track for the spring season. "I have to keep up with my favorite sport."

Not only does Nixon run track, but he has another hobby that he enjoys on a regular basis as well. He enjoys drawing. Nixon is known by his peers for drawing pictures during class, and sometimes even drawing on his clothes. "I like to be original," he says.

But what Nixon enjoys the most is being around his friends. "I play all types of games from go-carting and laser tag to playing football in the neighborhood." Overall, Nixon says that his favorite thing to do in his spare time is eat. "I love food… I like to think of eating as my hobby.

During Nixon’s senior year, his main goal is to increase his GPA. Once he graduates, Nixon already has his game plan set and ready. The two main colleges that he is considering to attend in the fall of 2009 are Towson University and Morgan State University. "I don’t want to go far for college, but I still want to feel somewhat independent from my family," he says.

Nixon has plans to study business or engineering in college. As of now, he is still deciding on what career paths he wants to take as an adult. "I still have one more year to before I really have to decide what I want to do. As of now, nothing is set in stone."

Currently, Nixon is taking several Advanced Placement classes (AP) and has already taken and passed the HSA exams. "My classes are challenging, but I know that when I go to apply for colleges, the higher level classes will look good on my transcripts."
