“Why be mad all the time when
you can laugh and make other people laugh as well. Life
is short; so, you might as well have fun while you can,”
says Katrina Carrington, senior. There was little
laughter for Carrington who grew up in Baltimore City.
In fact, she says it was “rough,” but there was nothing
she could do about it.
Carrington says, “Gangs are a
big issue [in Baltimore City], but you will find that
anywhere, whether it’s in Baltimore City or Baltimore
County.” Eventually, Carrington and her family moved out
of the city and into Baltimore County where they thought
their children would be better educated.
“I came for the mass
communications magnet,” says Carrington talking about
what brought her to RHS. Carrington is currently taking
Advanced Journalism. She is learning to produce to The
Rams Horn.
Carrington is also a student
athlete. She plays varsity soccer, basketball, and
softball. She enjoys sports because it’s a fun activity
that helps her keep fit throughout the whole school
year.
“Sports are a part of the
career path I would like to … [take when] I grow up. So,
why not start as a teenager in high school,” says
Carrington who also says her brother inspired her to
play sports.
After high school, Carrington
plans to attend either Coppin State or College Park. She
will go to college hopefully on a scholarship for
basketball; if not for basketball then for softball.
This
year, Carrington is the captain of her varsity
basketball team.
