"Ninth grade
students are adolescents undergoing the difficult transition
from middle school to high school. The RAMS Academy
is designed to help ease the transition to high school,
and to help more students stay in school and earn promotion.
The RAMS Academy will be a bridge that
spans the rough waters of adolescence, preparing students
academically and socially for the rigors of high school
and college."
The RAMS Academy
name is based on two key elements - the pride of our school
mascot (Rams) and the positive behaviors we want our students
to attain through our PBIS program:
The RAMS Academy
is a self-contained unit in our school, with
its own administrator, Ms.. Reed and teaching staff,
in a separate location from the rest of the building.
The organization of the RAMS Academy
is interdisciplinary, e.g. teams of five teachers - Math,
English, Social Studies, Science, Tehcnology - who share the same
group of students. These teachers share a common planning
period that they will use to address individual student
problems, coordinate instruction, and plan for other team
activities. Each student will also be assigned an
advisory group to assist with concerns and proide tools
for academically successful year.
