Parents & Students,
New
Lateness Policy
Administrators and faculty members believe
that lateness to school greatly impacts academic achievement
and sets the tone for each student’s educational
attitude for the day. At Randallstown High School, we
continue to be concerned about the large number of students
who are late to school, everyday. Some students demonstrate
a culture that appears to find lateness acceptable.
After many conversations, encouraging
students to improve lateness, academics and attendance,
we recognize the need to create additional procedures
that will, ultimately, change the mindset of students
who arrive late to school. The new procedures
require parents to escort students who are late to the
cafeteria. At this time, your child will be given
a late pass and sent to class. If your child is
late, and you are unable to escort him/her, he/she will
be detained, in the cafeteria, until the next scheduled
class. We will not accept notes because we are
unable to verify the validity of your signature. Your
child’s absence from class will, of course, be unexcused.
Five unexcused absences may result in a failing
grade for the quarter.
This procedure will begin second semester,
January 25, 2005. We believe lateness to school is a choice
or habit. Please impress upon your child the importance
of punctuality both at school and on the job. After all,
we are preparing our students to become successful, contributing
members of society.
We know that you, as do we, want the
very best for your child. Thank you for your continued
support of the educational program. Together, we are building
a better future for our children.
