Action Step(s):

Randallstown HS educators will create a long-range unit and daily lesson plans that demonstrate knowledge of:

  • individual student learning needs

     

  • instruction that is aligned to the rigor of the standards

     

  • modeling, shared thought processes, and think aloud strategies as tasks are both approached and completed
  • programs and resources that will be implemented with fidelity while being responsive to learner variability

Action Step(s):

RHS Instructional Coaches will create/identify an agreed-upon rubric and evidence tool to collect and compare elements of effective planning and instruction to current curricular programs and resources.

 

RHS educators will use a process for formative mathematics assessment including checks for understanding during math instruction and adjust teaching as needed based on student progress.

 

RHS educators will evaluate student learning on summative assessments to create targeted instruction to accelerate, enrich, and extend learning.

Goal: All students will achieve mathematics proficiency as indicated by the MCAP assessment.

Literacy

Action Step(s):

  • Randallstown HS instruction will demonstrate long-range unit planning and daily lesson planning using the BCPS Planning Templates.

     

  • RHS educators will incorporate authentic literacy experiences, reflective of the discipline, in every lesson.

     

  • RHS educators will explicitly teach content aligned to the rigor of the standards including modeling by sharing their thought process aloud as they approach and complete tasks (i.e. “think aloud” strategy).

     

  • RHS educators will demonstrate knowledge of their content as well as current evidence-based strategies and pedagogy.

Action Step(s):

  • RHS Instructional Coaches will collaborate with educators to analyze formative and summative student assessment data
  • RHS educators will utilize and instructionally implement RAMS Way: a reading approach to navigate text across content areas

     

  • RHS educators will utilize and instructionally implement the RAMS Way reading approach to increase the use of primary text for students to read and analyze text

     

  • RHS educators will utilize and instructionally implement RAMS Way - The Write Way: a writing approach to improving sentences and paragraphs in daily and long-term writing

     

  • RHS educators will utilize anchors and rubrics to establish high expectations for daily and long-term student writing

Goal: All students will achieve literacy proficiency as indicated by the MCAP assessment.

Safe and Supportive Environment

Action Step(s):

To support the established goal,

  • Action plans will be developed to include social and emotional check-ins facilitated by RHS’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team (Counselors and SEL teachers) and classroom teachers. Through organized designed opportunities, teachers will connect and build on their ability to support students virtually.

     

  • An SEL Roadmap will be utilized in the virtual classroom setting to address barriers that impede student success in the virtual setting.

     

  • Additional engagement strategies and resources such as relationship mappingEquitable Family Engagement tools, and tools to support families during COVID-19 will be utilized to meet the established student engagement goal

     

  • Needs assessments will be administered and the utilization of restorative practices and SEL resources accessible to support the student community.

Action Step(s):

RHS educators will implement tiered intervention strategies aligned with culturally responsive instructional strategies to improve a student's daily classroom experience.

Goal: RHS will increase the attendance rate through student engagement from 91% to 95%.
