The National Honor Society was founded 80 years
ago by the National Association of Secondary School
Principals to recognize the students who not only
earned top grades, but also enhanced the school
by their outstanding leadership, character, and
service. The guidelines are established by the
national office. Local schools, principals, and
school boards cannot change the guidelines. Students
meeting these requirements are truly exceptional.
